The Bustling city of Telangana, with its magnificent forts, palaces, high-rise buildings, picturesque lakes, and waterfalls, also boasts an advanced transport infrastructure. Maintenance and enhancement of the road connectivity within the state needs money. Therefore, vehicle-owning residents of Telangana are required to pay road tax. It plays a major source of avenues needed to push the state’s economic growth and develop road infrastructure. Telangana road tax is governed under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and depends upon various factors, such as vehicle age, type, cost, seating capacity, and more.

It is mandatory to get your vehicle permanently registered in state RTO. There are over 36 RTOs in Telangana that oversee all transport-related operations and duties, such as issuance of driving licenses, registration certificates (RC), granting permits, collection of road tax, and transfer of ownership while enforcing road safety practices. These RTOs have unique RTO codes and assist in registering vehicles and keeping a database of vehicles plying on roads in Telangana.
