Run Away From the Spot

If a driver runs away from the spot of the accident, they can be fined up to Rs. 5,000, or imprisonment of up to six months, or both, under Section 134 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. In addition to the fine and imprisonment, the driver’s license may also be suspended or cancelled.

Leaving the scene of the accident can also have serious consequences for the injured persons, as they may not receive timely medical aid. Therefore, it is important to stay at the scene of the accident, provide assistance to the injured persons, and report the accident to the police.
