Carrying Children Below 14 Years Without Safety Belt/Child Restraint System

As per the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, carrying children below 14 years of age without a safety belt or child restraint system is a traffic violation and can result in penalties and fines.

The safety belt and child restraint system are designed to protect passengers, especially children, from injuries in case of an accident. Carrying children without these safety measures can lead to serious injuries or even death in case of an accident.

If a driver is found carrying children below 14 years of age without a safety belt or child restraint system, they can be fined up to Rs. 1,000. If the offence is repeated, the fine can be increased up to Rs. 2,000. The driver can also be booked under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, depending on the nature and severity of the violation.

To ensure the safety of children and avoid any legal penalties or fines, it is important to use appropriate safety measures while carrying children in a vehicle. If you are carrying children below 14 years of age, use a child restraint system that is appropriate for their age and weight. Ensure that the child restraint system is properly installed and the child is securely fastened in it.
